How To See Angels

DAY 3 OF 3

The two men are surrounded.

Elisha is calm. His servant…less so.

Both characters are in the same situation–but each using a different frame to interpret it.

What Elisha does next is the crux of everything I want you to take from this short series.

Elisha prays for his servant’s eyes to be open, not in a literal sense but in a spiritual sense.

In essence, what Elisha prayed for was the servant’s frame to be adjusted, rewired, and amplified.

We need to get this truth.

When this great man of God saw his servant, someone he was likely very close to and probably felt was like a member of his family, was frozen by fear because of life’s circumstances…

Elisha did not:

  • Pray for courage.
  • Pray for hope.
  • Or even pray for deliverance.

The very FIRST thing Elisha did was pray for perspective.

“God, show my servant what’s really going on. How powerful you really are. How you always hold all the pieces in your hand. Help him see like you would want him to see.”

You know what happened next. The servant saw horses and chariots of fire surrounding them! The servant saw angels.

You, reading this right now, might feel like life has you surrounded. Like you are out-numbered, out-resourced, and just downright out-matched by the difficulty that has come your way.

My encouragement to you today is to pray like Elisha.

Pray for God to reframe your situation. Pray for an interpretation that will fuel your faith. Pray for a perspective that will bring God glory.

And just maybe, you’ll see the angels already surrounding you.
