Prayer Journey By Itumeleng Matlaila

Day 2 of 5 • This day’s reading

A prayer for our country

Almighty God, strengthen us to serve You today with a joyful and generous heart. May our prayers bring You glory and may they benefit all our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Our Heavenly Father, we pray for Your presence to be with the leaders of the country. In the Bible, You say that leadership is an awesome responsibility, demanding spiritual preparation grounded in consistent personal devotional time with You (see Romans 12:8 and 1 Chronicles 16:11).

Lord, we pray that the leaders of the country would seek godly counsel, and work willingly and energetically. Father God, we focus our prayers and cries on You. You know far better than we ever could just how our needs can best be addressed. May we remember that setting aside our own expectations and simply asking for Your grace and guidance will bring us strength, wealth and comfort beyond anything we can imagine.

Lord, we love and trust You. May Your will be done. We speak Your peace, grace and mercy over the country. We pray for the country’s economy to change for the better. You say in Your Word that whatever we ask in Your Name, that You will do (see John 14:13). So let it be, our Savior.

Holy Spirit of God, come down upon the poverty in the country as You once came upon the disciples during Pentecost. Be with those who are counted among the poor, the needy, the weak, the orphans and widows, and those in lower social classes. These are precious souls and in need of protection from abuse and neglect. Father, come with the fire of Your love and the spark of Your life and let the marginalized people of the country know they are not alone.

May we live in the fullness of Christ’s resurrection, both now and forever.

We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
