Beast Mode

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1 – Unchained

Have you ever been with someone who gets lost while driving?  Everything is seemingly going along just fine until a defining moment comes along and the realization comes: WE. ARE. LOST.

Maybe it was a sign, or a road that was supposed to be there for the next turn or possibly a friend that says, “Hey, I think we are going the wrong way.”

When that realization comes upon you, a sense of anxiety often comes next.  In that split second, we may be unsure of what to do.  Often, the first thing to do is to turn down the radio. Turn down the radio?  Why?  Because in moments like this, the music puts us into sensory overload.  It is too much to process at one time and we need to eliminate all distractions so we can figure out which way to go.

This reminds me of Saul. He’s marching along to the beat of his own drum in an effort to destroy the church (Acts 8:3).  He certainly believed he was doing the right thing by persecuting Christians, which goes to show you that sometimes we don’t even know we are lost.  In fact, Saul shows us that we can be convinced we are going in the right direction when we aren’t.

But, while on the road to Damascus, Jesus stops him in his tracks. What happens next is arguably the most famous conversion in all of the Bible.  For three days, Saul is blind and does not eat or drink.  All the distractions are gone so that he can figure out the way he should go.  He listens to God and his life is changed forever.  In short, Saul’s encounter with Jesus turns down the proverbial music and allows Saul to unleash his “Beast Mode” sharing of the gospel!

Prayer:  Dear God, let me encounter Jesus.  I ask that He fill me up with a “Beast Mode” desire to tell everyone about Him so that their lives can be changed forever.  Amen.
