God At Work
Reading: Phil.1:2-6, 2:12-13
Key Verse: “work out your own salvation ... for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose” v.12-13
We can be mistaken that the Christian faith is all about our own efforts in trying to be good and trying to create new beginnings in our lives. That is the false position of religion which is all based on our own efforts to please God. Christianity is not about religious duties but about having an intimate relationship with God and allowing Him to work in and through us as He fulfils His promises to make all things new.
Our effort is important because we “work out our salvation”. We do not work for it but we do work it out – just like the Israelites who worked to collect and cook the manna God provided before the opportunity disappeared (Exodus 16:14-21). But God wants to work in and through us just as He worked through the early disciples. For example, we read; “the Lord worked with them” (Mark 16:20), “God did extraordinary miracles through Paul” (Acts 19:11).
New Beginnings are not based on our resolutions, our self will or our self effort but on our God who works in us. This relieves us of the stress of trying too hard as we relax into His rhythms of grace and peace.
Prayer: Father I thank You that my New Beginnings are based on You and Your perfect work and not my own efforts
About this Plan
