Moses the Lost Man

Reading: Exodus 3:1-12

Key Verse: “So now go, I am sending you” v.10

The amazing story of Moses is fairly well known and even adapted into films and a Disney cartoon! Although Moses was a prince of Egypt he identified with the people of God and had even tried to save them with his own abilities by killing an Egyptian (Exod.2:11-15). Overwhelmed by his failure and frightened for his life Moses fled “to the far side of the desert” (v.1). It seemed his dreams were crushed as he went from living as a prince in a palace to living as a shepherd by a well in the desert.

Years passed and although Moses appeared a lost, forlorn, forgotten character, God had not forgotten him. Moses was a runaway murderer but God specifically chose him to lead His people to escape from slavery to freedom. Moses seemed to feel inadequate and reluctant to expose himself to failure and rejection once again but God promised to be with him. Our past may be a painful failure full of regrets. But God has chosen you and me and promised to be with us to help others escape the slavery of selfish sin to freedom in relationship with Jesus. New beginnings for us leads to new beginnings for them!
