“The Courageous Warrior” Go through and read today's scripture. 

If I could choose one woman from the Bible to sit and have coffee with, I think it might be Esther. Her story in the book of Esther, a short book in the Old Testament, is fascinating and raw. I wish I could hug her and tell her she did mighty work. “Why me, Lord?”, must be a question that poured from her heart daily. She didn’t let the “why Lords” tear down her courage or steal her passion for the ministry the Lord set before her of loving her people. I’m sure many of you feel this weight today. You're asking, “Why me, Lord? Why this time and place?” Let’s take some time today to study the life and heart of this heroic and courageous woman, paying close attention to what we can learn from her about being a mighty warrior. FOUR WARRIOR CHARACTERISTICS WE LEARN FROM ESTHER Teachability - She could have had an “I’m the queen” attitude and done what she wanted, but instead she listened to the advice from Mordecai and followed his instructions. Patience - Although the story we have in our Bibles is short, it took place over the span of many, many years. Just in the process of becoming queen she had to go through a year of pampering before being presented to the King. She remained steady and followed what Mordecai and the Lord asked of her. She took her time and carefully found the right time and place to bring the truth to light to help save her people. Selflessness - Esther risked her own safety and security by approaching the king. If he did not find favor in her and accept her, she could have been killed immediately. But because her security didn’t rest in her position, beauty, or reputation, she trusted God had a plan for her life. Courage - Esther risked her life by keeping her nationality a secret, by coming before the king, and by asking all she did of the king. We see immediately in the beginning of the book that Xerxes had no problem dismissing a queen for something simple, so he could have easily had her removed or killed along with her people. Her courage and faith in God are what made her a true warrior! Esther’s people, God’s people, were victorious because of her courage, faith, and trust in God.
