DANIEL…A SPECIAL MAN

[Scheduled Reading: Ezekiel 46-48, Daniel 1-12]

Remember Ezekiel 14:14, the mention of the righteous men, Noah, Job and Daniel?

What’s interesting about this trio is their respective time periods. Noah’s flood was around 2349 BC. Job is believed to have lived 2150 BC. But Daniel was among the captives of the Babylon captivity in 607 BC.

Daniel was a contemporary to Ezekiel, who began his prophet ministry in 595 BC.

While Noah and Job’s stories were ancient to Ezekiel - over 1500 years old, Daniel was a current day faith giant in Ezekiel’s time.

The life and character of Daniel is enormously special. The legacy of he and his three friends is an awesome story of obedience and faithfulness, even to the point of death.

This small book (Daniel) contains many of the famous Bible stories that are taught to children today... the fiery furnace, the handwriting on the wall, Daniel in the lion’s den, Nebuchadnezzar’s famous dreams.

Then there’s Daniel’s own vision from God that fits in the eschatological studies alongside the book of Revelation.  

The book of Daniel is a loaded book.
