Read To Hear : Book Of GenesisSample

Jacob returns to Bethel
God said to him, “Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.” So he named him Israel. (Genesis 35:10)
God commanded Jacob to return to Bethel, the place where he first received God’s Words when he fled from his brother Esau. There, Jacob received again the Words that God had given him in the past, that his name was no longer Jacob, but Israel. And then, the command and promise to be fruitful and multiply, which were given to Abraham and Isaac, was also given to Israel.
Sometimes God wants us to take a step back from where we are, so we can remember what He has commanded us to do and what He wants for our lives. Just like how God commanded Jacob to return to Bethel and reminded him of all his promises and commands.
