THE INNER & OUTER ANOINTING 

The Ruined Life is one full of risk and adventure. Those pursuing it will see Super-natural demonstrations of love and power. This is what I call the Outer Anointing. The Outer Anointing is your skill, gift, talent, and spiritual activity. Casting out devils, healing the sick, prophesying destiny, or even interpreting dreams will become common, but again there is a danger to it. 

I love seeing displays like those, but they can be so intoxicating to the point that we live to see only those things. We start measuring our spiritual health and strength by them. We judge our services based on how “good” or “powerful” it was—if the preacher was on fire or not. We even base it on the response size during the altar call. If any of these or more were not to the level we desired, then we strive to find a way to get there, not realizing the strength of the Outer Anointing comes from the Inner Anointing.

Why is this crucial to The Ruined? Because having an Inner Anointing will keep us from being “ineffective and unproductive.” It is possible to be busy, showing off all of our talent, only for it to end up being fruitless. The neglect of an Inner Anointing is focusing more on how we look in public rather than who we are becoming in private. The Ruined must prioritize the cultivation of their Inner Anointing first; then, their Outer Anointing.

The Ruined Life never causes you to be intoxicated and addicted with your Outer Anointing, but to be obsessed with developing your Inner Anointing. The Ruined give careful attention to how strong their character, integrity and honor is.  At any moment, when they sense a weakness in any one of these areas it is quickly prayed over, corrected, and brought into accountability. The Ruined know the Inner Anointing is the fuel for their Outer Anointing. The Ruined live from their Inner Anointing and develop it through the foundation of spiritual hunger and discipline. The foundational, spiritual disciplines of reading the Word, developing a prayer life, fasting regularly, worshiping continuously, praying for the broken and sick, witnessing to the lost and hurting, is what keeps our heart aligned with His so we can avoid having compromise destroy us from the inside out. When you give yourself to developing your Inner Anointing, you will have an unstoppable Outer Anointing!
