Songs of Solomon 2:4: His banner over me is Love!
I walked into a coffee shop the other day and the playlist for the entire one hour I sat there was love songs! It made me wonder: why all these love songs? Of course, I looked to Google for an answer and was not surprised to read that the most loved and listened to songs on iTunes are love songs!
People are looking for love everywhere. They are falling in and falling out of love. But somehow, what they think is love and what love really is, is miles apart. The love we often crave for and seek after is time bound, is fleeting, and will fade away with time. Such is the love of man! But the love of God is way beyond this standard!
God’s love is far greater than any obstacle or defeat you face in your life. His love never fails! One little kid once said, ‘When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth.’ And, that is how amazing God’s love is for each of us. He knows His children by name!
The Bible is God’s love book for YOU. And even better, He has a customized love note for you, aptly summarized in John 3:16, ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’
For your prayer time today, declare over yourself, that the Lord’s banner over me is love! And then, make a choice to recognize that you are both loved and unique!
