A Life Of Glory

DAY 2 OF 10

Holy, Holy, Holy

We saw on day one of this devotional that we were created by God to manifest His glory to the world. How do we do that? The simple answer is that we must know the foundation to conform to His character and holiness.

In the book of Isaiah, we see the essence of God’s character proclaimed to His creation. Isaiah had a vision, seeing seraphim fly above the Lord’s head singing, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”

Holiness is another form of His character existing. In the vision, Isaiah sees God high and lifted up with the train of His very robe filling the temple. It’s beyond anything we know or can imagine. What a magnificent vision of the holy God - one who is so magnificent that even the train of His robe cannot be contained in His temple.

Holiness is also the energy behind God’s character. In Isaiah’s vision we see that holiness acts in response to his un-holiness and cleanses his sin. This tells us that God is holy in all that He is, thinks, feels, says, and does.

In the book of Ephesians, Paul tells us that before the foundation of the world, God designed holiness into His creation, specifically in you and me. That is the standard He built into us and will not lower it. Paul also says that holiness is God’s desire for us. If holiness is God’s standard, then shouldn’t it be ours as well?

In the book of 1 Peter, he says that our God, who is holy, call us to be holy too! What we find is that holiness is the essential attribute of God’s character and in order to fulfill our purpose, displaying His character, we must be holy, as He is Holy.

Two Questions: What does holiness look like in my life? How do I live daily in response to the way God made me - that is holy and manifesting his character?
