Finding Hope Beyond The FrontSample

Perseverance
Rebecca, National Guard Wife
When my husband joined the Army National Guard, our whole family started to get in better shape. Watching him take up running inspired me to dust off my running shoes.
When my husband was deployed, though, my running became like a metaphor in the letter to the Hebrews: “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
Eventually, I signed up for 5K races with the National Guard, which motivated me to keep training. It helped that I was exercising both my body and my mind by meditating on God’s Word while I ran.
Every day that my husband has been deployed has been both a challenge and a reward. Some days I feel victorious. Other days, I’m just glad to be able to put one foot in front of the other.
God’s Word has challenged me to persevere and to remember that my eyes need to be fixed on Jesus the author and perfecter of my faith. Each day can be a victory because Jesus has already won the race.
PRAYER: Lord, in every step that I take, I pray that you would guide my footsteps and be my sure footing on every pathway.
PASSAGES TO STUDY: Hebrews 11,12; 1 Corinthians 15; Philippians 3

About this Plan

The word of God also promises that even when destruction surrounds us and anxiety is great within us that we can take joy in the consolation that comes from Him. No matter how forgotten we feel, God does not abandon His people.
