Finding Hope Beyond The FrontSample

Marriage
Ariel, Army Wife
Until death do us part? I thought for sure one of us was going to kill the other after that first, year-long deployment to the Middle East. I’d heard that you send one man off to war, but a different one returns home. Now I understood how true this could be.
The first few months after he returned I was confused and distraught. I hadn’t bargained for this. I knew that I had committed to better or worse, but this wasn’t worse – it was torture.
Sometimes it was difficult to hear God through my own wailing, weeping, and whining. However, God was so gracious and loving, comforting me and speaking to me about my marriage. His Word made it abundantly clear that divorce goes counter to His purpose for marriage.
God reminded me that if He can raise the dead, then He is capable of raising my marriage from the dead and restoring it to bring Him glory. I needed to have faith in Him – to choose God over my feelings, fears, and frustrations.
I don’t think I would have been able to make the choice and give Him my marriage had I not sought His words of life and His presence.
PRAYER: Father, help me to find assurance – especially in the hard times – to know that, according to Your Word, whatever You have joined together, You mean to be together.
PASSAGES FOR STUDY: Genesis 1,2; Matthew 19; Romans 8

About this Plan

The word of God also promises that even when destruction surrounds us and anxiety is great within us that we can take joy in the consolation that comes from Him. No matter how forgotten we feel, God does not abandon His people.
