Day 1 of 5 • This day’s reading

Did you know that even before you were born someone was thinking about you?  Yes, your parents were probably excited and waited months and months for your birth.  But did you know that centuries and millennia before even they were born someone was thinking and looking forward to your birth?  It’s true, God was eagerly awaiting your birth and your life.

We see in Genesis that when God was creating the world He spoke everything into existence but with Adam, God stopped and actually formed Adam with his hands.  He took the time to carefully and intricately create man with all the care of a master craftsman forming a work of art.  This departure from the normal sequence of creation shows the care and love God has for humanity as the highlight of creation.  As believers, we believe there was a purpose behind this level of investment in our creation.

Like a master craftsman creates a valuable piece of pottery or a beautifully designed piece of furniture, God created us to fulfill a purpose.  The book of Ephesians tells us that God has created each and everyone one of us to accomplish good works for His Kingdom.  He planned all of this before you were ever born.  God has a plan for your life and has He has placed a calling on each of our lives.  But we’ll learn more about that next week.  For now, rest in the knowledge that you are not an accident.  Remember, that you were made by an infinite God who knit you together in your mother’s womb, who knows every hair on your head,  who knows all your thoughts and loves you enough to put his fingerprints on your life.
