DAY 45 OF 84

If you’re reading this that means you’ve read at least 45 chapters of the Bible so far this year. That’s a great start on your journey of engaging with God’s story so you can better live out the story that He has uniquely created for you. You’re also well on your way to helping Parkview as a church read 1,000,000 chapters of the Bible this year. Just keep up the great work.

Today we’re jumping into the letter known as 2 Corinthians. It is another letter by Paul to the same group of people in Corinth. As you know from reading 1 Corinthians, after Paul planted the church he received a report that the church was facing some serious problems. Paul wrote what we know as 1 Corinthians to address these problems and redirect them to living in light of their faith in Jesus.

After the letter of 1 Corinthians, it appears that many in the church of Corinth rejected Paul’s instructions. After a visit and more correspondence with the Corinthian church, it seems that most of the Corinthians realized they were in the wrong, desired to be forgiven, and wanted to reconnect with their friend.

Paul then writes 2 Corinthians to reassure the church in Corinth of his love for them and that he too wants to be reconnected with them. He uses the image of Jesus dying on the cross as the symbol for how and why we as Christians should work toward reconciliation with each other.

When you read 2 Corinthians, think about how forgiveness and reconciliation fit into following Jesus with your life.

About this Plan

1,000,000 Chapters

There is nothing that equips or invites the Church to live like Jesus more than reading the Bible. The pages of the Bible capture God’s story and lead those who dare to read it to live out His story for today. That’s why Parkview is making the challenge to our church to collectively read 1,000,000 chapters of the Bible together.  Will you join us on the journey?
