Classical Nahuatl is the classical version of the ancient language of the Aztecs of Mexico.
Gospel of Luke
The Gospel of Luke (El Evangelio de S. Lucas) was translated from Latin into Nahuatl by Mariano Paz y Sanchez, a priest of Santa Maria, Chicmecatitlan. He made the version at the request of his nephew Don Miguel Quinones, Professor of Latin and Rhetoric at Los Angeles. It was printed by Samel Bagster for the Bible Society in 1833. It was reprinted in 1889 by the the Evangelical Press (Imprenta Evangélica) of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Calle de Gante, 5 in Mexico City.
