1Workin thegither wiʼ him, we entreat ye no to receive the tender‐love oʼ God in vain!
2For he says, “At a favorable time I heard ye, and in a day oʼ salvation I befreendit ye.” Tak tent! Noo a favorable time; lo! noo a day oʼ salvation!
3Giean nae occasion oʼ stumblin in onything, that oor ministration be‐na wytit:
4But in aʼ things commendin oorsels as Godʼs servitors; in muckle patience, in dool, in needs, in stretts,
5In stripes, in imprisonments, in bruilzies, in toilins, in waukrifeness, in fastins,
6In continence, in knowledge, in lang‐tholin, in unco kindness, in the Holie Spirit, in aefauld love,
7In the truthfuʼ word, in the pooer oʼ God, by the wapins oʼ richtousness iʼ the richt haun and the left;
8Throwe glorie and shame, throwe ill‐report and gude‐report, as imposters and yet aefauld;
9As fremd and yet weel‐kent; as deein, and lo! we are leevin; as cloured, and no killed;
10As in dool, yet aye rejoicin; as in poortith, yet makin mony rich; as haudin naething, yet haudin siccar aʼ things;
11O Corinthians! oor mooth is open tʼye; oor heart is enlairged!
12Ye are‐na held‐in in us, but ye are held‐in in yer ain affections.
13Noo for a return to ye (as to my ain bairns I speak) be ye enlairged as weel!
14Be‐na #6:14 It is a pawkie plan oʼ Sautan to get a Christian to taigle his sel wiʼ a godless wife, or an ill‐deedie pairtner in business, or an ungodlie callin!yokin yer sels thrawartlie wiʼ misbelievers; for whatna ane‐ness hae holiness and iniquity; or hoo can licht marrow wiʼ mirkness?
15Or what‐na ane‐ness has Christ wiʼ Belial! or what is atween a believer and a mis‐believer?
16Or what‐na ane‐ness has a temple oʼ God wiʼ eidols? For ye are a temple oʼ God, wha is a leevin God; eʼen as God said, “I wull dwall in them, and gang in them, and wull be their God; and they sal be my folk.
17“Whaur‐for, come ye oot oʼ their mids, and be ye allenar,” says the Lord, “and touch‐na the unclean thing;
18“And I wull tak ye in, and be a Faither to ye, and ye sal be to me for sons and dochters, says the Lord Almichty.”
