“And oʼ this I am makin a task, to hae a gude conscience aye; baith toward God and man.

Noo, as he was reasonin oʼ justness, and self‐guidin, and a Judgment to come, Felix was terrifyʼt, and quoʼ he, “Gae yere ways enoo; but whan I fin a fit time, I wull send for ye.”
