It is big, in your face, and seems impenetrable. The world is entrenched around our lives. We are set apart from it – yet we are still in it. In a spiritual sense, the world is the battlefield. For Joshua, Jericho represented the world. God trained Israel in the Wilderness, baptized them in the Jordan, and circumcised them as they camped before the locked gates of Jericho.
