God Our King

For the choir director. A psalm of the sons of Korah.

1Clap your hands, all you peoples; # Is 55:12

shout to God with a jubilant cry. # Ps 95:1

2For Yahweh, the Most High, is awe-inspiring,

a great King over all the earth. # Dt 7:21; Neh 1:5; Mal 1:14

3He subdues peoples under us

and nations under our feet. # Ps 2:8; 18:47

4He chooses for us our inheritance —

the pride of Jacob, whom He loves. # Am 8:7; Nah 2:2Selah

5God ascends among shouts of joy,

the Lord, among the sound of trumpets. # 2Sm 6:15; Ps 68:18; 98:6

6Sing praise to God, sing praise;

sing praise to our King, sing praise! # Ps 68:4; 89:18

7Sing a song of wisdom, # Hb a Maskil

for God is King of all the earth. # Zch 14:9; 1Co 14:15

8God reigns over the nations;

God is seated on His holy throne. # 1Ch 16:31; Ps 22:28; 97:2

9The nobles of the peoples have assembled

with the people of the God of Abraham. # Ps 102:22

For the leaders # Lit shields of the earth belong to God;

He is greatly exalted. # Ps 72:11; Is 49:7,23
