The King Is Holy
1The Lord reigns! Let the peoples tremble.
He is enthroned between the cherubim. # 99:1 Ex 25:22; 1Sm 4:4; Ezk 11:22
Let the earth quake. # 99:1 Ps 33:8
2The Lord is great in Zion;
he is exalted above all the peoples. # 99:2 Ps 48:1; 113:4
3Let them praise your great
and awe-inspiring name. # 99:3 Ps 111:9
He is holy. # 99:3 Is 6:3
4The mighty King loves justice.
You have established fairness;
you have administered justice
and righteousness in Jacob. # 99:4 Ps 33:5; 103:6; Jr 23:5
5Exalt the Lord our God;
bow in worship at his footstool. # 99:5 Ps 132:7
He is holy. # 99:5 Is 6:3
6Moses and Aaron were among his priests; # 99:6 Ex 24:6–8; Lv 8:1–30
Samuel also was among those calling on his name.
They called to the Lord and he answered them. # 99:6 1Sm 12:18
7He spoke to them in a pillar of cloud; # 99:7 Nm 12:5; 14:14; Dt 31:15–18
they kept his decrees and the statutes he gave them.
8 Lord our God, you answered them.
You were a forgiving God to them, # 99:8 Ps 78:38; 103:3
but an avenger of their sinful actions. # 99:8 Jr 46:28
9Exalt the Lord our God;
bow in worship at his holy mountain,
for the Lord our God is holy. # 99:9 Ps 2:6; 48:1; Ezk 20:40
