The Priestly King
A psalm of David.
1This is the declaration of the Lord
to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand

2The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion.

3Your people will volunteer
on your day of battle. # 110:3 Lit power,# 110:3 Jdg 5:2
In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn,
the dew of your youth belongs to you. # 110:3 Hb obscure,# 110:3 1Ch 16:29; Ps 96:9
4The Lord has sworn an oath and will not take it back:
“You are a priest forever
according to the pattern of Melchizedek.” # 110:4 Gn 14:18; Heb 5:6,10; 7:17,21
5The Lord is at your right hand;
he will crush kings on the day of his anger. # 110:5 Ps 16:8; 68:14
6He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses; # 110:6 Is 66:24; Rv 19:17–18
he will crush leaders over the entire world. # 110:6 Ps 68:21
7He will drink from the brook by the road; # 110:7 Jdg 7:5–6
therefore, he will lift up his head. # 110:7 Ps 27:6
