When you were a kid, did you ever have one of those moments with your family, maybe in a busy store or at a crowded amusement park, when you suddenly looked up and thought, "Oh no. Where is everyone?" You'd been happily holding a grown-up's hand a minute ago, but somehow you got separated. That stomach-dropping feeling is what I imagine Jesus' followers experienced when they found out Jesus was going to be leaving them. The disciples loved Jesus and thought they needed Him to stick around forever, but Jesus told them often that wasn't God's plan. Jesus always knew He would need to leave Earth eventually, but He never wanted to leave us alone. Instead, He promised to send us God's Holy Spirit to be with us, comfort us, teach us, help us, and so much more. The Holy Spirit is God's gift to us.
