I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts. I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word.

I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts. I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word.

I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments. I have refused to walk on any evil path, so that I may remain obedient to your word.

I understand more than the elders  because I obey your precepts.  I have kept my feet from every evil path  to follow your word.

I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep thy precepts. I have refrained my feet from every evil way, That I might keep thy word.

Oh, how I love all you’ve revealed; I reverently ponder it all the day long. Your commands give me an edge on my enemies; they never become obsolete. I’ve even become smarter than my teachers since I’ve pondered and absorbed your counsel. I’ve become wiser than the wise old sages simply by doing what you tell me. I watch my step, avoiding the ditches and ruts of evil so I can spend all my time keeping your Word. I never make detours from the route you laid out; you gave me such good directions. Your words are so choice, so tasty; I prefer them to the best home cooking. With your instruction, I understand life; that’s why I hate false propaganda. * * *

I understand more than those who are old, Because I have complied with Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, So that I may keep Your word.

I understand more than the aged [who have not observed Your precepts], Because I have observed and kept Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word. [Prov 1:15]

I am more discerning than those older than I, for I observe your precepts. I stay away from the evil path, so that I might keep your instructions.
