“Take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel

You shall take two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel

As a jeweler engraves signets, so shall you engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall enclose them in settings of gold filigree.

“Take two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the tribes of Israel.

Engrave these names on the two stones in the same way a jeweler engraves a seal. Then mount the stones in settings of gold filigree.

Fasten the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the Ephod—they are memorial stones for the Israelites. Aaron will wear these names on his shoulders as a memorial before GOD.
