Titus 2

Teaching Sound Doctrine

1 But as for you, communicate the things that are in harmony with teaching that promotes spiritual health and soundness.

2 Older men should be temperate, dignified in conduct, self-controlled in their behavior, and sound and healthy in their faith, in their love, and in their patient endurance.

3 In the same way, older women should conduct themselves in a manner that is reverent in their behavior, not spreading malicious slander, not becoming enslaved to drinking large quantities of wine, but instead teaching what is good and excellent,

4 so that they may instruct the younger women to be devoted in their love to their husbands and to their children,

5 to exercise self-control, to maintain purity, to be diligent workers who care for their homes, to be kind and good, to place themselves under the authority of their own husbands, so that the message of God will not be spoken against with blasphemy and insult.

6 In a similar manner, urge the younger men to exercise sound judgment and self-control;

7 in every situation demonstrate yourself to be a pattern of good works, showing in your teaching that you possess integrity and have not been corrupted, maintaining dignity and seriousness,

8 and using speech that is sound and healthy and cannot be condemned, so that anyone who stands in opposition may be put to shame, having no evil thing to say about us.

9 Slaves must place themselves in submission to their own masters in every respect, seeking to please them well, not talking back or being argumentative,

10 not stealing their possessions, but demonstrating complete and unwavering faithfulness, so that in every way they may make the teaching about God our Savior appealing.

The Instructing Grace

11 For the grace of God has made its appearance, bringing the offer of salvation to all people without distinction,

12 training and disciplining us so that, having rejected ungodliness and worldly passions and cravings, we might live in the present age with self-control, with righteousness, and with godly devotion,

13 while we wait with eager anticipation for the blessed hope and the glorious manifestation of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

14 who surrendered Himself as a sacrifice for our sake in order to purchase our redemption from every form of lawlessness, and to purify for Himself a people who are His special possession, a people who are passionate for doing good works.

15 Declare these truths, and urge people to obey them, and correct those who fail to comply, doing so with full authority. Allow no one to treat you with contempt or disregard.
