Revelation 20

20
The Binding of Satan
1 I saw an angel descending from heaven, holding authority over the abyss and carrying a heavy chain.
2 He overpowered the dragon—the ancient serpent known as the devil and Satan—and bound him for a thousand years.
3 He confined him to the abyss, shutting and sealing it, so that he could no longer deceive the nations during this appointed period. Afterward, he must be released briefly, according to God’s purpose.
The Millennial Reign of Christ
4 I then saw thrones, and those seated on them were granted authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their witness to Jesus and their loyalty to God’s word. They had refused allegiance to the beast and its image and had not accepted its mark. They were raised to life and reigned together with Christ for a thousand years.
5 The rest of the dead were not raised until this period had ended. This is the first resurrection.
6 Those who share in it are blessed and set apart for God. The second death has no claim over them. They serve God and Christ as priests and reign with Him throughout this thousand-year reign.
The Final Defeat of Satan
7 When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his confinement.
8 He will again mislead the nations across the whole earth—symbolized by Gog and Magog—assembling them for rebellion. Their number will be vast beyond counting.
9 They will advance across the land and surround God’s people and the city He loves. But fire will descend from heaven and destroy them.
10 The devil, who deceived them, will be cast into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet already are, and they will face unending judgment.
The Great White Throne Judgment
11 Then I saw a great white throne and the One seated upon it. The earth and the sky fled from His presence, leaving no place to hide.
12 All the dead, from the least to the greatest, were standing before the throne. Books were opened, and another book was opened—the book of life. Each person was judged on the basis of their deeds, as they were written in the books.
13 The sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades released those under their power. All were judged individually according to what they had done.
14 Death and Hades themselves were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was also thrown into the lake of fire.
