Galatians 5

5
The Liberty Given by Christ
1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
2 Look! I, Paul, tell you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will benefit you nothing.
3 I again testify to every man who chooses circumcision that he is obligated to obey the entire Law.
4 You who are seeking to be justified or declared righteous by the Law have separated yourselves from Christ; you have fallen from grace.
5 For through the Spirit, we eagerly wait by faith for the hope of righteousness.
6 For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value, but only faith working through love.
7 You were running a good race. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?
8 This persuasion does not come from the One who calls you.
9 A little yeast spreads through the whole batch of dough.
10 I am confident in you, brothers and sisters, that you will remain steadfast in the Lord, and the one troubling you will face judgment, whoever he may be.
11 Brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case, the offense of the cross has been nullified.
12 I wish that those upsetting you would go so far as to mutilate themselves!
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but rather, through love, serve one another.
14 For the entire Law is fulfilled in this one command: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
15 But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you are not consumed by each other.
Walking by the Spirit and Aligning with the Spirit
16 I say this: Live by the Spirit, and you will never fulfill the desire of the flesh.
17 For the flesh desires what is opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is opposed to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are unable to do what you desire.
18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, sensual indulgence,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, rivalries, divisions,
21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and the like—I am warning you, as I warned you before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness and self-control. Against such qualities there is no law.
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have put the flesh to death, along with its passions and desires.
25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit’s guidance.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, or envying one another.
