2 Thessalonians 1
1
Apostolic Greeting
1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy,
To the church of the Thessalonians who live in God our Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 May grace or unmerited favor and peace be given to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Giving Thanks to God on Behalf of the Saints
3 We are continually obligated to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, as is entirely appropriate, because your faith is advancing remarkably and the love each one of you has for one another is steadily increasing.
4 As a result, we ourselves speak with pride about you among the churches of God, because of your steadfast endurance and faith in the midst of all the persecutions and hardships that you are continuing to bear.
Eschatological Judgment and Glory
5 All of this serves as clear evidence of the righteous judgment of God, demonstrating that you will be regarded as worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are now suffering.
6 For it is right and just for God to repay distress to those who are causing you distress,
7 and to grant relief to you who are being afflicted, along with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His powerful angels,
8 appearing in blazing fire to execute righteous judgment on those who do not know God and on those who refuse to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
9 Such people will suffer the penalty of everlasting ruin, separated from the presence of the Lord and from the manifestation of His majestic power,
10 when He comes on that day to be glorified among His saints and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because the testimony we delivered to you was accepted as true.
Pauline Prayer
11 With this goal in view, we always pray for you, that our God may regard you as worthy of His calling and may bring to full completion every resolve for goodness and every work produced by faith through His power,
12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be honored in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
