Revelation 4
4
Vision of the Heavenly Throne
1 After these things, I looked, and behold, a door standing* open in heaven.* And the first voice which I had heard speaking with me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you the things which must take place after these things.” 2 Immediately I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, with One sitting on the throne. 3 And the One sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance, and there was a rainbow all around the throne, like an emerald in appearance. 4 And all around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and sitting on the thrones were twenty-four elders clothed in white garments, and on their heads were golden crowns. 5 And from the throne issued flashes of lightning and voices and peals of thunder. And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. 6 And before the throne was what appeared to be a sea of glass, resembling crystal.
And in the midst of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures full of eyes in front and behind. 7 And the first living creature resembled a lion, and the second living creature resembled an ox, and the third living creature had a face like a man’s, and the fourth living creature resembled an eagle in flight. 8 And the four living creatures, each one of them had six wings apiece,* full of eyes all around and within, and they do not have rest day and night, saying,
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,
the One who was, and the One who is, and the One who is to come.”
9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honour and thanks to the One who is seated on the throne, the One who lives forever and ever,* 10 the twenty-four elders will fall prostrate before the One who is seated on the throne and worship the One who lives forever and ever,* and will cast down their crowns before the throne, saying,
11 “Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for You have created all things, and because of Your will they existed and were created.”
