2 Corinthians 6

6
Encouragement Not to Receive God’s Grace in Vain
1 Now, since we work together with God*, we also exhort you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For He says,
“In the acceptable time I listened to you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you.”*
Behold, now is the favourable time;
behold, now is the day of salvation.
The Experiences of the Apostles
3 We give no cause for stumbling in anything, so that the ministry will not be discredited, 4 but in everything commending ourselves as servants of God, in much endurance, in distresses, in hardships, in calamities, 5 in beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, in labours, in sleepless nights, in hunger; 6 in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in sincere love, 7 in the word of truth, in the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left; 8 through glory and dishonour, through defamation and commendation; as deceivers, and yet truthful, 9 as unknown, and yet fully known; as dying, and yet behold, we are living; as punished, and yet not killed; 10 as grieving, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
11 Our mouth has spoken freely to you,* Corinthians; our heart is opened wide. 12 You are not constrained by us, but you are constrained in your own affections. 13 Now, in the same way, as a reciprocal response (I speak as to children), open wide your hearts also.
Against Unequal Yoking with Unbelievers
14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 And what harmony has Christ with Belial*? Or what share does a believer have with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said,
“I will dwell in them
and will walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be My people.*
17 Therefore,
“Come out from their midst
and be separate,
says the Lord.
And touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you,*
18 and I will be a Father to you,
and you will be My sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”*
