1 Corinthians 16
16
Collection for the Poor Jerusalem Saints
1 Now concerning the collection for the saints: Just as I directed in the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. 2 On the first day of each week, let each one of you set aside a portion* and store it up as he may prosper, so that no collections will take place when I come. 3 And when I come, whomever you approve, I will send them with letters to carry your gift to Jerusalem; 4 and if it is considered appropriate for me to go also, they will go with me.
Travel Plans of Paul and Others
5 But I will come to you when I pass through Macedonia, for I am passing through Macedonia, 6 and it may be that I will stay with you, or even spend the winter, so that you may assist me on my way wherever I go. 7 For I do not want to see you now merely* in passing; for I hope to remain with you for some time, if the Lord permits. 8 But I will remain in Ephesus until Pentecost, 9 for a great and effective door has opened to me, but there are many who oppose me.
10 Now if Timothy comes, see that he is with you without any reason for fear, for he is performing the work of the Lord, as I also am. 11 Therefore, let no one ignore him, but assist him on his way in peace, so that he may come to me; for I am expecting him with the brothers.
12 Now concerning Apollos our brother, I earnestly urged him to come to you with the brothers. However, it was not at all his will to come at this time, but he will come whenever a favourable opportunity arises.
Final Encouragement
13 Be watchful, stand fast in the Lord, act like men,* be strong. 14 Let all that you do be carried out in love.
15 Now I urge you, brothers—you know the house of Stephanas, that they are* the firstfruits* of Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints— 16 that you also be subject to such as these, and to everyone who cooperates in the work and labours. 17 And I rejoice over the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have supplied what was lacking from you, 18 for they have refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore, recognise such individuals.
Final Greetings and Benediction
19 The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Prisca extend their heartfelt greetings to you in the Lord, along with the church in their house.* 20 All the brothers extend their greetings to you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
21 The greeting is in my own hand—Paul’s. 22 If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be set apart for destruction.* O Lord, come!*
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus* be with you. 24 My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.*
