PSALM XXIX.
Weel-wordy’s the Lord o’ the heighest laud: whan He sighs, the yirth steers; woods, watirs, wustlands, an’ a’, dinnle.
Ane heigh-lilt o’ David’s.
1Gie ye till the Lord, ye sons o’ the mighty;#1 Chron 16:28, 29; Ps 96:7, 8, 9 gie ye till the Lord gudeliheid an’ strenth:
2Gie ye till the Lord the gudeliheid o’ his name; lout ye till the Lord i’ the lo’esomness o’ haliheid!#2 Chron 20:21
3The sigh o’ the Lord ’s atowre the spates; the God o’ gudeliheid gars thunner:#Job 37:4, 5 the Lord is atowre mony feck o’ fludes.
4The sigh o’ the Lord ’s wi’ pith; the sigh o’ the Lord ’s wi’ gloiry.
5The sigh o’ the Lord rives cedars in twa; na, the Lord rives cedars o’ Lebanon till flinders.
6An’ e’en gars them sten like a stirk;#Ps 114:4 Lebanon an’ Sirion,#Deut 3:9 like some cowte#29:6 Heb. son. o’ the unicorns.
7The sigh o’ the Lord synders the flaughts o’ fyre.#29:7 Atween bleezes o’ light comes a reel o’ thunner.
8The sigh o’ the Lord gars the wustlan’ quauk; the Lord gars the wustlan’ o’ Kadesh dinnle!
9The sigh o’ the Lord gars the staggies cling;#29:9 Wi’ fright, or at pairtin time: leuk Job 39:1, 2, 3 an’ it dreels aff the leaf o’ the forests. Bot it’s intil his ain halie howf, the hail#29:9 Sae stan’s the Hebrew, an’ wi’ unco pith it stan’s. Our Inglis reads anither gate, wi’ but little pith an’ less grammar. o’ Himsel speaks gloiry.
10The Lord sits heigh on the spates; aye, the Lord sits King for evir.#Ps 10:16
11The Lord will gie feck till his folk;#Ps 28:8 wi’ peace sal he blythebid his peopil!
