Philemon 1

Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, a brother, to Philemon, our beloved and fellow worker, #Eph. 3:1, 4:1; Phil. 2:25; 2 Tim. 1:8 Philem. 9
And to Apphia, our beloved, and to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the church that meets in your house: #Rom. 16:5; 1 Cor. 16:19; Phil. 2:25; Col. 4:17
Grace and peace be to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. #Eph. 1:2
I thank my God, always making mention of you in my prayers, #Eph. 1:16; 1 Thes. 1:2; 2 Thes. 1:3
Having heard of your love and the faith that you have toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all the saints, #Eph. 1:15; Col. 1:4
So that the fellowship of your faith may become effective in the acknowledgment of every good thing that is in you toward Christ Jesus. #Phil. 1:9
For we have great joy and encouragement on account of your love, because by you, brother, the saints have been refreshed unto the innermost parts of their beings. #2 Cor. 7:13; 2 Tim. 1:16 Philem. 20
Therefore, I have much boldness in Christ to require of you that which is fitting, #1 Thes. 2:6
Yet for the sake of love I am encouraging you to do it instead, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now also the prisoner of Jesus Christ. #Philem. 1
I beseech you for my son, Onesimus, whom I begot in my bonds; #1 Cor. 4:15; Gal. 4:19; Col. 4:9
Who was once of no service to you, but now he is profitable both to you and to me; whom I am sending back to you.
But you (as if from the innermost part of my being) receive him,
Whom I was desiring to retain with me, so that in your stead he might serve me while I am in prison for the gospel’s sake. #1 Cor. 16:17; Phil. 2:30
But without your consent I would do nothing, so that your good deed might not be of constraint, but of willingness. #2 Cor. 9:7
For perhaps on account of this he was separated from you for a time in order that you might receive him for eternity; #Gen. 45:5, 8
No longer as a slave, but above a slave—as a beloved brother, especially to me, and how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord? #Mat. 23:8; Col. 3:22; 1 Tim. 6:2
If therefore you count me as a partner, receive him as if he were me; #2 Cor. 8:23
But if in anything he has wronged you or owes you, charge it to my account.
I, Paul, wrote this with my own hand; I will repay. I say this although (as I could say to you, but have not) you yourself are likewise indebted to me.
Yes, brother, so that I may have this benefit from you in the Lord, refresh me in the Lord, even to the innermost part of my being. #Philem. 7
I wrote to you because I am fully persuaded of your willing compliance, knowing that you will do above and beyond what I have asked. #2 Cor. 7:16
But in addition, also prepare lodging for me; for I hope that through your prayers I will be granted release to you. #2 Cor. 1:11; Phil. 1:25, 2:24
Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, salutes you; #Col. 1:7, 4:12
As do also Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke, my fellow workers. #Acts 12:12, 25, 19:29, 27:2; Col. 4:10, 14; 2 Tim. 4:11
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. #2 Tim. 4:22
To Philemon, written from Rome,
