Psalms 83

83
A Song. A Psalm of Asaph.
1Do not keep silent, O God; # Ps 28:1; 35:22
do not hold Your peace or be still, O God.
2For behold, Your enemies make an uproar,
and those who hate You have exalted themselves. # Jdg 8:28; Ps 81:15
3They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, # Ps 31:20
and consulted together against Your treasured ones.
4They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” # Jer 11:19
5For they have conspired together with one accord; # Ps 2:2
they form an alliance against You—
6the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
Moab # 2Ch 20:1 and the Hagrites; # 1Ch 5:10
7Gebal, # Jos 13:5 Ammon, and Amalek;
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; # Eze 27:3
8Asshur also has joined them;
they have helped the descendants of Lot. # Dt 2:9    Selah
9Do to them as You did to Midian, # Isa 9:4
as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, # Jdg 5:21
10who perished at Endor; # Jos 17:11
they became as dung for the ground. # Zep 1:17
11Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb, # Jdg 7:25
all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, # Jdg 8:12–21
12who said, “Let us take possession for ourselves
the pastures of God.” # 2Ch 20:11
13O my God, make them like whirling dust,
like chaff before the wind. # Job 21:18; Ps 35:5
14As fire burns the forest,
as the flame sets the mountains ablaze, # Dt 32:22; Isa 9:18
15so pursue them with Your tempest,
and terrify them with Your storm. # Job 9:17; Ps 58:9
16Fill their faces with shame,
that they may seek Your name, O  Lord.
17Let them be shamed and dismayed forever;
let them be humiliated and perish, # Ps 35:4
18that they may know that You alone, whose name is the Lord, # Ps 59:13
are the Most High over all the earth. # Ex 6:3
