For the Music Director. A Psalm of David.
1How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me? # Job 13:24; Ps 89:46
2How long must I take counsel in my soul,
having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
3Consider and answer me, O Lord my God.
Enlighten my eyes, # Ezr 9:8 lest I sleep the sleep of death, # Jer 51:39
4lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him,”
lest my adversaries rejoice when I stumble. # Ps 25:2; 38:16
5But I have trusted in Your mercy; # Ps 52:8
my heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. # Ps 9:14
6I will sing to the Lord, # Ps 116:7
because He has dealt bountifully with me.
