Psalms 12
12
For the Music Director. According to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David.
1Help, Lord, for the godly man comes to an end, # Isa 57:1
for the faithful disappear from the sons of men.
2They speak empty words, each with his own neighbor;
with flattering lips and a deceitful heart they speak. # Ps 41:6; Ro 16:18
3The Lord will cut off all flattering lips,
and the tongue that speaks proud things, # Da 7:8; Rev 13:5
4those who say, “With our tongue will we prevail;
our lips are in our control. Who is our master?”
5“Because the poor are plundered,
because the needy sigh,
now I will arise,” says the Lord; # Isa 33:10
“I will place him in the safety for which he yearns.”
6The words of the Lord are pure words, # Ps 18:30; Pr 30:5
silver tried in an earthen furnace,
purified seven times.
7You will keep them, O Lord;
You will preserve them from this generation forever. # Ps 37:28
8The wicked prowl on every side,
as vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
