Advent invites us to journey through the darkness to discover the light, the incarnate Word of God who "shines in the darkness" (John 1:5). This plan focuses upon the weekly themes of Advent—hope, peace, joy, and love—and serves as a guide through each week of the season. In a year labeled in 2020, we thought it would be great to develop a devotional on how we Focus our eyes on Jesus. We will look at five different times the Bible talks about seeing Jesus and the situation. Join us as we step into revealing, powerful and personal encounters with the Savior.

Although Jesus told us in this world we would find trouble, He also offered us ways to overcome in overwhelming times. He taught His followers what I like to call 5 Steps for Overcomers—look within, look to Him, look ahead, look out, and look up. Looking in each of these directions will help us to overcome our everyday challenges, and help us to encourage others to do the same.
