Truly, truly, I say to you that the one who hears My word and believes the One who sent Me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed * from death to life.

When Jesus saw this man* lying there and realised that he had been in that condition for a long time already, said to him, “Do you desire to be made well?”

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, and it is these that bear witness about Me, but you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

Jesus said to him, “Arise; take up your mat, and walk.” And immediately, the man was made well, and he took up his mat and began to walk. (Now it was the Sabbath on that day.)

So Jesus replied and said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing on His own initiative, * except what He sees the Father doing. For whatever He does, these things also the Son does in the same way.
