Teen sononder se kant het die Here God in die tuin rondgeloop. Toe hulle Hom hoor, het hulle bang geword en tussen die bome vir Hom gaan wegkruip. Die Here God moes toe na die mens roep en sê: “Waar is jy?” Die mens het verleë geantwoord: “Hier is ek. Toe ek hoor U is hier het ek bang geword, want ek is mos kaal. Toe het ek weggekruip.” Die Here God vra toe vir die mens: “Wie het jou vertel dat jy kaal is? Of het jy van die verbode boom se vrugte geëet?” Die mens sê toe: “Dit is alles die vrou se skuld. Die einste vrou wat U my gegee het, het my van die boom se vrugte gegee. En ek het dit geëet.”
