Living HD - A Journey Through the Letter of James预览

Jealousy, selfish ambition, boasting. All words that have one thing in common: SELF
That’s a problem, because the Word teaches us: 'Do nothing from selfish ambition (yep, there it is) or conceit (pride, the root of jealousy), but in humility (opposite of boasting) count others more significant than yourselves. ' (Philippians 2:3)
According to James, all these ugly qualities mentioned are NOT wisdom. It might not sound that bad until we read what they are: earthly, unspiritual, demonic… wow!
If there’s one thing I can guarantee my kids, it is that they will face unfairness in this world which is often rooted in jealousy. As a dad, it is a painful experience when you see your kids facing this. So what should we do when we face these things?
I remind my kids (and myself!) that our struggle is not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12). So rather than trying to deal with it on a personal level, let’s get on our knees and know that we have God on our side! Even when we’re faced with these 'demons', we can know, and hold fast, to the fact that God works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28)
"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)
Do you recognise some of these qualities in you? Take them to God and ask Him to replace them with humility and love for other people.
When you’re facing them, remember, you have God on your side!
