Living HD - A Journey Through the Letter of James预览

One of the most prominent illustrations that the Bible uses to explain the relationship between God and His people is that of marriage. In one of the greatest passages about marriage, Ephesians 5:22-33, we find that Paul likens the relationship of Jesus and the church to that of a husband and a wife. With that comes the intrinsic idea of exclusivity.
Like a husband and wife have sworn off all other men and women, so the Christian pledges their faithfulness to God alone. Our problem is that we think giving ourselves fully to God will make us be alone. We may think separation from the world will mean isolation and isolation is too hard to bear! But know that the greatest joy comes in the freedom of faithfulness and exclusivity, knowing you belong solely to God and not the world. This freedom brings with it every heavenly blessing!
Oh how often we forfeit these blessing, these joys, when we try and befriend a world that is full of fleeting pleasures, when we say yes to the temptations believing that God cannot supply our every need and satisfy us. That is why the world is God’s enemy. It takes what’s His and desires to break it down.
Look at your life today and ask the Holy Spirit to show you the places where you are 'flirting' with the world. Turn away from those sins and turn toward a God who has given you all you need to be satisfied!
