Living HD - A Journey Through the Letter of James预览

Does God want to give you all of your heart’s desires? Yes and no. Yes, because when we ask according to His will we know that He will grant us our requests. No, because James tells us that we do not always ask with the right motives.
Any wise parent knows that saying yes to their child’s every request is not good parenting, and can even be seen as unloving. It is out of love that the parent doesn’t allow the 6 year old to drive a car, or the 16 year old to spend their evenings in bars, or the 12 year old to play with a fluffy lion no matter how much they beg and plead. In the same way, our Father filters our requests through His lens of lovingkindness and wisdom and doesn’t always give us what we want.
Ask yourself: What do I do when I do not get what I asked for? What is my attitude towards God and those around me? Do I accept the no, or find a way around it?
It is God’s good pleasure to bless His children. It should be our good pleasure to learn who our Father is, so that we can ask according to His will, and not our own.
Prayer: Father, thank You that you have not always given me everything I ask for. I know that whatever I have received and will receive is filtered through Your love and wisdom. Give me a heart to know Your will, so that I can ask accordingly.
