Living HD - A Journey Through the Letter of James预览

 In our journey through the book of James we have found that the believers James was writing to had many problems: people who couldn’t control their tongue, those that preferred the rich over the poor, others being judgmental and hypocritical. Thankfully the church today never struggles with such things! Or that’s what we wish we could say. Unfortunately we still quarrel, and unfortunately we still have conflicts. 

But why? Why after almost 2000 years do we sit with the same problems? Because the church is made up of people, and people all have desires. The problem is that these desires, if left unchecked, cause quarrels and conflicts because at the heart of every unredeemed desire is the need to be self-satisfied. How many times have you been troubled because things didn’t go your way, expectations were unmet, things were said, and lines were crossed?

When we identify what desires (or pleasures) we have that we want met, we have two choices. Either we seek our own ways to meet them (at whatever cost we’re willing to pay), or we can bring them to God, have Him redeem them, and let them be satisfied by the One who has paid the ultimate cost for us to be at peace. 

Prayer: Give us the wisdom to see the misplaced desires that cause unrest in us. Redeem them so that they instead bring You glory
