May isang Samaritanang dumating upang umigib, at sinabi ni Jesus sa kanya, “Maaari mo ba akong bigyan ng maiinom?” Wala noon ang kanyang mga alagad dahil sila'y bumibili ng pagkain sa bayan. Sinabi sa kanya ng babae, “Ikaw ay Judio at Samaritana naman ako! Bakit ka humihingi sa akin ng inumin?” Sinabi niya iyon sapagkat hindi nakikihalubilo ang mga Judio sa mga Samaritano.
