Hubarin mo ang iyong sandalyas sapagkat banal na lugar ang kinatatayuan mo. Ako ang Diyos na sinamba ng iyong mga ninuno, ang Diyos ni Abraham, ni Isaac at ni Jacob.” Tinakpan ni Moises ang kanyang mukha sapagkat natatakot siyang tumingin sa Diyos. Sinabi sa kanya ni Yahweh, “Nakita kong labis na pinahihirapan ng mga Egipcio ang aking bayan. Alam ko ang hirap na kanilang tinitiis at narinig ko ang kanilang pagdaing. Kaya't bumabâ ako upang sila'y iligtas, ilabas sa Egipto at ihatid sa lupaing mainam, malawak, mayaman, at sagana sa lahat ng bagay. Ito'y ang lupain ng mga Cananeo, Heteo, Amoreo, Perezeo, Hivita at Jebuseo. Naririnig ko nga ang pagdaing ng aking bayan at nakikita ko ang pang-aaping ginagawa sa kanila ng mga Egipcio. Kaya't papupuntahin kita sa Faraon upang ilabas mo sa Egipto ang aking bayang Israel.”
