YOUR MARRIAGE IS PRECIOUS!

Marriage is a Covenant: Reflect on the moment you said, “I do” and “I will” in the presence of God and many witnesses. As you stood at the altar exchanging your vows, heaven rejoiced in the union of your marriage. Just as God has a plan for your personal life, He also has a divine purpose for your marriage too!

Unfortunately, we often overlook this perspective. That’s the reason we make wrong choices in our marriage, and furthermore, after marriage, there is a tendency to keep God out of our marriage. We assume that marriage problems are purely human challenges and believe God cannot do anything about them. Consequently, we seek worldly counsel and attempt to resolve issues through our own ways and methods.

Knowing that marriage is precious and honourable in God’s sight will change our perspective on how we see marriage.

What you did on the day of your wedding holds profound significance. You made a vow to support one another as long as you live, establishing a covenant marriage that is for life. Covenant marriage signifies that God is part of your marriage. There are three persons involved in the marriage – God, your spouse, and you.

Covenant marriage means God is present in your marriage. Maybe He is not active because we have not allowed Him to be active. In times of pain and struggle within your marriage, it is important to remember that God is fully aware of your circumstances. He is the Witness in your marriage. Marriage transcends the mere union of two individuals; it is also a sanctuary because of God’s presence. Therefore, your marriage is precious in the sight of God.

Holy Spirit in your marriage: Malachi 2:15 says that God has put a remnant of His Spirit in making you One. The Holy Spirit is the sign and seal on your marriage. Therefore, breaking that seal grieves the Holy Spirit. That is why the Bible calls divorce an act of rebellion and violence, warning us to guard our spirit because the Holy Spirit is also in our marriage. Therefore, your marriage is precious.

Perhaps we have not fully grasped the value of marriage, or we may have not been taught in this matter. Even as you have started reading this devotional, we believe that God is speaking to you – Your marriage is precious in God’s sight, and He is able to restore your marriage.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank You for helping me understand that marriage is a covenant. Today, I believe that You are a part of my marriage and that my marriage is precious in Your sight. Forgive me for not treating this covenant relationship seriously. Help me, God! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Master, the Tempest Is Raging

The disciples were caught in a storm while Jesus slept in their boat. They woke Him, pleading for help, and He miraculously calmed the storm. Similarly, in troubled marriages, we may seek God’s divine intervention, but God often focuses on transforming hearts. This devotional encourages opening our hearts to Jesus for the necessary support in a marital relationship. In order to restore a marriage relationship, God may sometimes choose just one spouse. You may be that one! We pray that this devotional will guide you in opening your heart to Jesus, allowing Him to provide the counsel you need.
