FOR YOUR MARRIAGE
THE CHOICE OF YOUR SPOUSE MATTERS
Marriage is a lifelong covenant, not just a casual or short-term decision. It’s not only about you and your spouse — God is part of this relationship too. Sometimes, we may enter into marriage for the wrong reasons, some of us left the choice entirely to our parents, some have made our own decision without seeking God or somewhere forced into decisions we never wanted. In all these cases, we may end up feeling regret. But here’s the truth: whether your marriage began with God’s guidance or not, the moment you entered into this covenant, God joined you as one flesh.
If you feel regret or doubt, the first step is to repent of any hasty or unwise decisions. Secondly, receive your spouse as your God-given covenant companion, and finally trust God to work in and through your marriage. God can take even a difficult marriage and transform it into something beautiful. But it requires your faith, surrender, and commitment as a couple.
Instead of living in regret, choose to live by faith. Tell God that you’re willing to work on your marriage and that you will not give up.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me for not seeking Your will when choosing my spouse. I repent of any hasty or unwise decisions and the regret I have carried. Today, I receive my spouse as Your covenant gift. I choose to hold onto You and this marriage, trusting You to work in me and through me. I believe You can transform our marriage into something beautiful. I am willing, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The disciples were caught in a storm while Jesus slept in their boat. They woke Him, pleading for help, and He miraculously calmed the storm. Similarly, in troubled marriages, we may seek God’s divine intervention, but God often focuses on transforming hearts. This devotional encourages opening our hearts to Jesus for the necessary support in a marital relationship. In order to restore a marriage relationship, God may sometimes choose just one spouse. You may be that one! We pray that this devotional will guide you in opening your heart to Jesus, allowing Him to provide the counsel you need.
