Life's Big Questions: Devotions From Time Of GraceSample

Where did I come from?
It’s always a little irritating, isn’t it, to hear someone described as a “self-made man”? No successful or well-to-do people ever did everything on their own. Even the most brilliant were helped and assisted by many, many others along the way.
In the same way it must infuriate God to hear bright and influential people deny that there is intelligent design in the origin of the human race. Only those who want no divine authority over them would find persuasive the arguments that the incredible complexity of a human being simply evolved over millions of years by completely random mutations, i.e., essentially by self-synthesis.
We are not self-made. Every man, woman, and child who ever lived is a stunning example of God’s imagination, design skill, and biological engineering and construction: “It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture” (Psalm 100:3). The second half of that marvelous passage is the logical implication of the first half. If God really did invest all that energy and skill into creating us, He must have plans for us, and we need to pay attention to those plans because we belong to Him.
Divine design and creation of the human race is not demeaning. In fact, it is ennobling, because it signifies that we mean a great deal to the Great Power above.
You are precious. Beautiful. Wanted.
