Culture Collision: Devotions From Time Of GraceSample

My sex life is my business
Of all the wrenching social changes that people have been through in the last two generations, the most traumatic have been over marriage and human sexuality. The challenges that the baby boomers launched in the 1960s came to their logical conclusion, and who knows if we’re done changing yet. These changes have affected not only the secular world but the families in the Christian church as well.
Cohabiting is no longer the slightly shameful “shacking up,” but it’s now the new normal. Even old folks do it when they think it benefits them financially. A homosexual lifestyle no longer is something to keep quiet. TV shows have helped to make gay couples the new normal. You can’t say a word or you’ll be branded as homophobic. The societal consensus that marriage consists of one man and one woman blew up in a decade. There are no longer two genders, assigned by birth. You may now choose your gender identity, and one option is “neither.”
The biblical way has become the new counterculture. God says: “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies” (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).
Whose approval do you seek?
